StockX combines a real-time market-price model with a new traditional listings format. Authentication is built in, prices are transparent, and there's no manual back-and-forth. Here's how it works and how to make it part of your multi-platform strategy.
StockX is a Detroit-based online marketplace for high-demand consumer goods, founded in 2015 and launched in February 2016. It operates two selling models: the original bid-ask marketplace, where prices are set by real-time supply and demand across sneakers, streetwear, accessories, electronics, collectibles, and trading cards; and StockX Listings, launched in 2026, a traditional listing format for used and vintage items where sellers ship directly to buyers. On the bid-ask model, every transaction is authenticated by StockX's in-house verification team before the item reaches the buyer.
What makes StockX structurally different from platforms like Depop or Poshmark is that there is no seller profile to build, no social following to cultivate, and no buyer messaging to manage on the core marketplace. On the bid-ask side, you set an ask price, wait for a buyer to meet it, ship to StockX, and get paid. On StockX Listings, you list used items directly, set a price, accept offers or Buy It Now, and ship straight to the buyer with zero seller fees at launch. The platform is estimated to have generated over $1 billion in annual GMV in 2025. StockX is a private company and does not publish official revenue figures, but demand for sneakers, collectibles, and authenticated resale continues to grow globally.
StockX runs on a bid-ask model. You set an ask price for your item. If a buyer's bid meets your ask, the sale is triggered automatically. You then ship to StockX for verification before it is forwarded to the buyer. Here's what it costs to sell:
| Fee Type | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Transaction fee (Level 1) | 9% of sale price | Starting rate for new sellers |
| Transaction fee (Level 2+) | 8.5% and lower | Decreases as quarterly sales volume grows |
| Payment processing fee | 3% of sale price | Flat rate for all sellers regardless of level |
| Total fees (new seller) | ~12% of sale price | Transaction + processing combined |
| Shipping to StockX | Prepaid label provided | StockX provides label; cost may vary by region |
| StockX Listings seller fee | $0 at launch | New listing format for used items; ships direct to buyer |

Seller levels are recalculated each quarter based on number of completed sales or total sales value, whichever threshold you hit first. Sellers at Level 3 and above can also earn bonuses: a 1% discount for shipping 95% of orders on time, and an additional 1% for shipping 80% of orders within 36 hours of sale. Funds are released after the buyer receives the authenticated item.
StockX handles high-demand items at market price. Oly makes sure the rest of your catalog is working across every other platform where your buyers are searching.
The bid-ask model rewards sellers who price with data, ship fast, and understand what the market is actually buying right now.
